Hello, design and food lovers! Sit back, relax, and hopefully, you didn’t come here hungry, because today I’m serving you a delicious dose of creativity and flavor with a side of fine dining (the good kind, of course). In this edition of Whitenote, we’re diving into BRASSA, a restaurant that deserves its own Oscar – both for its dishes and its design.

Now, if you haven’t heard of BRASSA (really?), it’s a restaurant serving regional Mexican cuisine that not only fills your belly but also your heart with dishes packed with history and flavors from the Comarca Lagunera. And for those of you wondering why we’re talking about food in a design blog, relax, it’ll all make sense.

A few weeks ago, Gabo Meléndez (the kitchen saint behind BRASSA) invited us to taste his masterpieces and shared the story behind each dish. Why? Because, my  friends, each dish has a story, a reason for being, and it’s deeply connected to the region’s essence. During that culinary trip, our design and marketing team got all the inspiration we needed to create the visual aesthetic that BRASSA needed to reflect all that culinary magic.

Thanks to what Gabo shared with us, we were able to create some cool artwork for their events (Noche Mexicana, Vinos & Amigos Vol. 2, y Menú Monte Parlo). His vision and passion for food gave us the tools to transmit BRASSA’s essence through design (check out our super cool designs, by the way).

The key for us was understanding that BRASSA isn’t just a restaurant – it’s an experience. And like any true artist (in this case, Gabo), his vision needed to be translated from the kitchen to the design. To start, we made a mood board (for those of you wondering, that’s basically a mix of images and ideas that capture the vibe we’re going for). And that’s when we hit the jackpot: each of BRASSA´s location, whether it’s Torreón or Parras de la Fuente, needed its own unique aesthetic stamp.

The difference in the menus of the two locations is also reflected in the design: Torreón focuses on ranch life and tradition, while Parras offers a more countryside, fresh, and natural vibe. Every detail in the design of the spaces, from the colors to the materials, is meant to make the BRASSA experience as authentic as its dishes.
